Digital Preservation Activities in National Library of China (NLC): Presentation - iPRES 2005 - Göttingen

Abstract

The Internet, as the fourth information medium, has gradually been accepted by the Chinese people. With Web information increases dramatically day by day, the National Library of China, as a deposit library, began its study on how to preserve Chinese Web information in 2003. This presentation mainly introduces what the National Library of China has done on: a) preservation of Web information, including preservation objects selection, technology solutions, working model, and the working process, b) promoting long term digital preservation at the library of domestic publications through cooperation with the large Chinese digital information providers such as Tsinghua Tongfang, Wanfang Data, and Founder Electronics Co.Ltd.
